Mother Guilt: Intention vs Reality - Inspirational Insight No.71

Hey Quester’s, how are you today? Well the kids are back to school and many mums and grandparents are probably feeling tired but rested by now. Hopefully mums that work inside and outside of the home are having some grown-up conversations. I’ve been sorting and organising and putting things away, but that often feels like an uphill battle! Still trying to get my children to understand that all their toys have their own home at the end of day, instead of them being health hazards on the floor! I’m not sure how they find their way out considering iPad's and laptops seem to be the main choice of fun these days! A work in progress I guess.

Mother guilt is an interesting topic that seems unnecessary in our lives, but something that needs to be discussed as you continue your Quest! It seems the majority of women have these thoughts or instincts that make them feel they have not done enough for their children. It’s that nagging mind message of the intentions you had for your children while they were very young. ‘I’m going to teach my children this, that and everything,’ but as time goes on some of these things are less obtainable for many reasons. Time is often at the top of this list and since there are only so many hours in a day, we can only do what’s humanly possible. The more children you have the harder it becomes to meet your intentions. Busy households can be like watching worker bees hurrying around with little rest.

But what about you, you govern your domain making everyone happy and have even less time to give to yourself. The mother, matriarch, goddess in you has passionate pursuits to fulfilled, suppressing theses diminishes the natural spark within. When you are happy the whole household shines and a lot more is achieved. Don’t suffer for outward appearances of what a woman should be. Be the person you are meant to be. Find the balance; even draw up a list of household chores – that teaches everyone that the house doesn’t magically appear clean, the pets don’t get fed by the invisible man and wonder woman doesn’t weed the garden (or maybe she does!).

Now seriously do you have enough time for yourself and how much is that. If it seems unfair can you calmly teach your wonderful children to be a little more self-sufficient? Yes this takes more time and patients, but it is worth it in the long run. Let your multi talking mind relax for the weekend, have some fun
!
